ENDING CYCLICAL POVERTY AND TEENAGE PREGNANCY IN AGOGO, GHANA

My friend, Fausty, was only 19 when she died, leaving behind her two-year-old daughter. She had been traveling through Libya to Europe, in search of better economic opportunities. During the journey, she was captured and killed by militants of the Libyan slave trade, her organs harvested and sold on the black market.

Fausty's tragic story was only one of many others. In Ghana, teen mothers do not have much access to jobs. As a result, many have to resort to prostitution, street hawking, or violence to survive. Others, like Fausty, try to leave for Europe, only to face perilous fates.
